The Joint Institute fosters several types of bi-lateral visitor exchanges every year. Such visits enhance the cooperative efforts between the University of Michigan Medical School and the Peking University Health Science Center; foster the academic and clinical interchange of faculty, postdoctoral fellows, and students; and promote the clinical, academic, and research information between the two Institutions.
Primary types of visits and exchanges include:
Medical Education. Both Institutions send delegations to visit the other Institution to learn about different educational systems and curriculum design. These visits may include staff and/or faculty members who are involved in short-term teaching, instruction, and/or consultation.
Student Exchange. Students (primarily medical students, residents, fellows, and graduate research students) of either institution may participate in degree-granting or non-degree granting programs of the JI partner institute.
Research Collaborations. The JI encourages basic, translational and clinical research collaborations in areas of mutual interest. Short- or long-term visits and exchanges may be arranged for faculty and postdoctoral fellows to participate in new or existing research projects.
